Summer 2018 Catalog Letter

Dear Friend and Customer,

The year is well under way here at A. G. Russell™ Knives. While our country is experiencing some pretty tumultuous times, things in the knife community seem to be improving. At the S.H.O.T. Show in January, we saw a great deal of change coming from major brands as management works to maintain the brand position in the marketplace. American brands producing quality product, either manufactured in the U.S. or to their specifications off-shore, are having to deal with the counterfeiting of their product and brand, and competition from lower quality knives coming from a hoard of off-shore makers. We see those brands beginning work to counteract those problems, both as individual companies and cooperatively through The American Knife & Tool Institute.

We are also seeing an increased interest in high quality manufactured knives and also in handmade knives, at all price points. A. G. Russell™ Knives is continuing to produce my designs under our own brand and to offer more handmade knives. We are in the process of developing a category on our website at agrussell.com of handmade knives and knives made by small companies that we will not be able to put in a printed catalog due to the small quantites we can get or various other factors.  As we build this category, we will be including information in our weekly e-mails about the knives we are adding.  If you are interested in this type of limited quantity knife and have an e-mail address which you have not given us, be sure to do that so you can receive these announcements.
