about this product

Order Details

The Randall® Model 1 Fighter was one of the first models produced in the Randall Shop in Orlando. A Model 1, made by Bo Randall, served as the prototype for the Springfield Randall that was manufactured by Northampton Cutlery Company near Springfield, Massachusetts in 1943 and 1944. This is a great knife and has been copied by most handmade knifemakers at some point in their career, and often by knife manufacturers as well.

Over the years, we have stocked several versions of the Model 1. First with an O-1 blade and India Stag handle, then with O-1 and Maple Burl handle made exclusively for A. G. Russell™. That was followed by a stainless blade and straight Black Micarta® handle, then 0-1 and Desert Ironwood. The Stag, Desert Ironwood and Black Micarta® are currently available on our website.

This version is different from the other versions we have offered in that the handle shape is Randall’s single finger grip. The 6-7/8" fighter style blade is 440B stainless at 55-56 Rc. The front of the top of the blade is sharpened back approximately 3" from the tip of the blade. The handle is black Micarta® with a nickel silver double hilt with no butt cap. Measures 11-5/8" tip to butt. Weighs approximately 9.5 oz. Includes Randall’s Model A leather sheath with stone pouch.

Due to Randall's high volume of orders, if not on our shelves when you order, delivery of Randall knives ordered from A. G. Russell is currently taking 5 to 6 months. If ordered directly from Randall the wait is currently about 5 years.

Randall Made Knives

For over 75 years, Randall knives have been the best-known handmade knives in the world. No two Randall Made™ knives are exactly alike, for no jigs or patterns are used in their final construction. Large-scale commercial production with this kind of attention to detail is not feasible and that's why knives of this unique quality are not widely available.

Gary Randall, the present owner, took over from his father, W. D. "Bo" Randall, in the mid 1970's and the shop remains so busy that today it takes over five years to get a knife directly from them. We are one of the few authorized Randall dealers, and try to keep a stock of their knives. If we don't have the knife that you want in stock, we can usually have it for you within 6-7 months, because our orders with Randall are booked years in advance. For anyone wanting to order directly from Randall the price will be lower but the wait will be extremely long.
